Interior painters in Oxford County
Scuffed hallways, a nursery to get ready, dated colours before you sell, or a whole house to paint before you move in. We connect you with a local painter who does interior painting across Woodstock and Oxford County.
- Serving Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and all of Oxford County.
- No fee to us. You only pay for the work itself.
What's included
- Prep. Moving and covering furniture, protecting floors, filling nail holes and cracks, sanding and spot-priming. Good prep is most of what you're paying for.
- Walls. Usually two coats, cut in by hand at the ceiling and trim, then rolled.
- Ceilings. Flat ceiling white hides imperfections. Stained ceilings get a stain-blocking primer first.
- Trim and doors. Baseboards, casings and doors in a harder-wearing semi-gloss or satin.
- Stairwells and high walls. Ladders, planks or scaffolding for the spots you can't safely reach.
- Clean-up. Furniture back, covers off, and touch-up paint left for you.
Choosing a sheen
Flat or matte hides wall flaws and suits ceilings and low-traffic rooms. Eggshell and satin wipe clean and are the most common for living areas, halls and kids' rooms. Semi-gloss is tough and washable, so it's used on trim, doors, kitchens and bathrooms.
Older homes and lead paint
Many homes built before the 1960s in Oxford County have lead paint under the newer layers, especially on trim, windows and doors. It's safe when it's intact, but sanding or scraping it makes dangerous dust. A good painter will test before sanding and use lead-safe practices if it's there.
Drywall repairs
Holes, cracks and old anchors are usually patched as part of the job. Bigger repairs, like water-damaged ceilings or rooms that need skim-coating, should be quoted separately so you can compare like with like.
Questions
How long does it take to paint a room?
An average bedroom takes about a day, including prep and two coats. A whole main floor or house takes several days, depending on ceilings, trim and repairs.
Do I need to move my furniture?
Most painters move furniture to the middle of the room and cover it. Clear small items, pictures and anything fragile beforehand to save time.
Can you paint in winter?
Yes. Interior painting can be done all year, and winter is often the easiest time to book a painter because exterior work stops.
Should I buy the paint?
Most painters supply it and get a trade price. If you have a brand or colour in mind, tell them when they quote.
